Amnesty International urges probe into attack on Lovemore Madhuku.

Opposition leader Professor Lovemore Madhuku and members of his National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) party were violently attacked in Harare on Sunday. International rights watchdog Amnesty International has called for a thorough investigation into the incident. Madhuku is currently receiving medical attention.Professor Madhuku accused the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) of distorting facts and attempting to distance themselves from the attack. He claims the assault was a coordinated effort at his party's offices. The police, however, denied assigning personnel to monitor or oversee the event.Amnesty International has urged the Emmerson Mnangagwa administration to urgently investigate the attack. The group emphasized the need for authorities to conduct a thorough probe.The incident occurred amid tensions surrounding Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3. Critics argue this bill undermines citizens' rights and strengthens parliamentary control over electoral processes.
