Edgars Delists from VFEX After Brief Stay
Edgars Stores has announced it will voluntarily delist from the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) pending necessary regulatory approvals, the Financial Gazette reported. The clothing giant, which debuted on VFEX in April 2024, cited strategic reasons for the move without providing further details to the market. The delisting follows a short tenure on the exchange, raising serious questions about VFEX's ability to retain listings and attract long-term investors. Edgars had previously migrated from the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange to access hard currency and international investors, but the exit now completely undermines that rationale and raises doubts about VFEX's value proposition. The macro pressure now shifts to VFEX's credibility as a listing destination, which must prove it can offer sustained liquidity and regulatory certainty to avoid further departures and restore confidence.
