Eight Killed in Two Road Crashes Hours Apart

Eight people were killed in two horrific road accidents that occurred within hours of each other on Monday, iHarare News reported. A head-on collision on the Harare-Nyamapanda highway claimed five lives, while three died in a separate crash on the Gweru road. The accidents add to a grim tally of road fatalities that has surged in recent years. Authorities cite speeding, overtaking errors, and poorly maintained vehicles as primary causes, but enforcement remains sporadic. The back-to-back tragedies highlight the state’s failure to enforce traffic laws. The twin tragedies expose a systemic failure in road safety management, where reactive statements follow each disaster but preventive measures remain absent, leaving motorists vulnerable to deadly conditions.
