Harare Records Over 4,000 Traffic Collisions Since January

Harare has reported more than 4,100 road traffic accidents since the start of the year, with nearly half of these incidents involving pedestrians. These figures were disclosed during a recent safety review, highlighting the extreme danger posed by the city's current traffic environment. The high frequency of collisions points to a combination of poor road infrastructure and lax enforcement of traffic laws. Authorities are now facing calls to implement more aggressive safety measures to protect vulnerable road users. The core vulnerability is the city's inability to manage its growing traffic volume, which continues to result in a high human and economic toll on the capital's residents.
