Healthcare Trainer Defrauded of US$70,000 in Fake Sponsorship Scheme

A Zimbabwean healthcare training company lost nearly US$70,000 to a fraudulent United Kingdom visa sponsorship scheme orchestrated by an agent named Pfende. NewsDay reported that the firm collected US$5,000 from each of its 58 clients before transferring the cumulative funds to the suspect. This incident highlights the growing desperation of Zimbabwean professionals seeking to escape the country's economic collapse through overseas employment. Over the past three years, thousands of citizens have fallen victim to sophisticated recruitment scams promising lucrative healthcare jobs in the British National Health Service. The scam underscores the severe vulnerability of Zimbabwe's unregulated migration consultancy sector, which remains highly susceptible to cross-border financial fraud.
