Mnangagwa's Term Extension Bill Clears Parliament, Awaits Assent

Zimbabwe's National Assembly adopted Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, surpassing the required two-thirds majority and clearing the final legislative hurdle for President Emmerson Mnangagwa's assent. The Bill was passed for a second time after the lower house adopted amendments proposed by the Senate, effectively rewriting the nation's charter. The Vice-Presidents Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi could be the biggest casualties of CAB 3, as their political future would be at the Zanu PF leader's mercy, NewsDay reported. The structural shift centralizes appointment power directly in the presidency, bypassing traditional succession protocols.
