Health Cancer Machines

Mpilo Cancer Machines Set for October Launch

Mpilo Central Hospital's new cancer machines will become fully operational by the end of October 2026, Health Minister Douglas Mombeshora announced. The equipment is expected to improve oncology services in Bulawayo. The machines were procured after years of delays and funding shortages, with the hospital previously relying on outdated equipment. The installation faced technical hurdles and contractor disputes. Despite the milestone, Zimbabwe's cancer treatment capacity remains critically low, and the new machines alone cannot address the systemic shortage of oncologists and radiotherapy staff.
