Ncube Holds Fiscal Line as FDI Surges to $965 Million

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube presented a mid-term budget review, the Daily News and NewZimbabwe.com reported, making no major policy shifts and declining a supplementary budget. He pledged to maintain macroeconomic stability and highlighted a surge in foreign direct investment to US$965 million. The review, under the theme ‘Enhancing Drivers of Economic Growth and Transformation Towards Vision 2030,’ builds on recent reforms that have tamed inflation and stabilized the local currency. Ncube emphasized that Treasury has sufficient fiscal space to fund programs through year-end. However, looming pressures from civil service wage demands and the cost of reintegrating returnees from South Africa could test this fiscal discipline.
