Politics Politician Funeral

Opposition MDC Founding Member Elliot Pfebve Laid to Rest in United Kingdom

Opposition Movement for Democratic Change founding member Elliot Pfebve was laid to rest in Birmingham last Friday. The ZimGazette reported that the academic and cancer awareness campaigner passed away after a long battle with the disease. Pfebve was a prominent figure in Zimbabwe's turbulent opposition politics, surviving multiple assassination attempts before seeking exile in the United Kingdom. His casket was draped in the Zimbabwean flag, symbolizing his lifelong commitment to democratic reforms in his home country. The loss of such a veteran figure comes at a time of deep division within Zimbabwe's opposition movement. Supporters now face the challenge of preserving Pfebve's legacy of resistance amid ongoing state crackdowns on political dissent.
