Small-Scale Miners Drive Record June Gold Deliveries

Fidelity Gold Refinery reported that Zimbabwe's gold deliveries surged to 4.81 tonnes in June, marking the highest monthly output recorded this year. The state-run sole buyer confirmed this represents a 21.7 percent increase from the 3.95 tonnes delivered in May. This production spike stems from small-scale miners who bypassed traditional supply bottlenecks to capitalize on high global bullion prices. The government previously introduced incentives to curb smuggling and channel more informal production into official reserves. Zimbabwe's fiscal stability remains dangerously dependent on volatile, informal mining networks to generate critical foreign exchange.
