State Broadcaster Upgrades to HD and Launches Streaming Platform

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation upgraded its television broadcasts to High Definition on the DStv platform and announced the launch of its Z+ streaming service. According to state media, the digital upgrade aims to modernize the broadcaster's output and reach a wider digital audience. Viewers welcomed the improved picture quality but criticized the state broadcaster's continued bias and lack of editorial independence. Independent media analysts argue that technological upgrades cannot mask the network's role as a government propaganda tool. The broadcaster's digital expansion will fail to attract younger audiences without a fundamental shift toward objective journalism.
