Zimbabwe Translocates Wildlife to Equatorial Guinea Under New Deal

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority began capturing and relocating selected wildlife species to Equatorial Guinea. As reported by New Zimbabwe, the state-to-state conservation agreement aims to rebuild animal populations in the Central African nation's depleted protected areas. ZimParks initiated the translocation following a formal request for technical assistance from the government in Malabo. While officials praise the deal as a conservation triumph, local environmental groups have questioned the transparency of the animal transfers. The program's success hinges on Equatorial Guinea's ability to protect the newly introduced species from rampant poaching.
