ZIMSEC June Exams: O-Level Drops, A-Level Rises

As reported by Daily News and New Zimbabwe, ZIMSEC released June 2026 exam results showing the O-Level pass rate fell by 2.87% to just 3%, while A-Level performance improved significantly. Candidates accessed their results online from 6pm Monday, with the decline continuing a worrying trend in basic education. The O-Level pass rate for candidates who wrote five or more subjects dropped from 5.87% in 2025 to 3%, highlighting systemic failures in secondary education. In contrast, A-Level results showed improvement, offering a glimmer of hope for advanced studies. The government now faces pressure to address the root causes of poor O-Level performance, even as advanced levels show promise, with education stakeholders calling for urgent reforms.
