Ziyambi Warns Zanu PF Against Opposing CAB3 at Thank You Rallies

Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi warned Zanu PF supporters to distance themselves from anyone opposing the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No.3) Act, 2026, as the ruling party staged 'CAB3 Thank You Rallies' across all 10 provinces. The rallies, addressed by senior officials, aimed to publicly cement support for the recently assented law. Ziyambi, who spearheaded the bill, insisted that opponents must not be allowed to destabilize the country, effectively branding dissent as unpatriotic. The coordinated events served to project unity, but they also signaled an intolerance for internal criticism of the amendment, which extends presidential terms and weakens judicial oversight. The forced consensus masks a strategic vulnerability: as economic hardships deepen, the party's heavy-handed suppression of debate could alienate its base and drive opposition underground, eroding the legitimacy the rallies seek to manufacture.
