AFCON Bid
Botswana has withdrawn from the 2028 AFCON bid, leaving Zimbabwe and South Africa to continue their joint proposal. The withdrawal narrows the regional competition but also reduces the coalition's political weight. The remaining partners must now prove they can meet infrastructure and security requirements alone. The core vulnerability is the financial burden of hosting a continental tournament without a third partner.
