Manufacturing capacity surges to 61%, exports hit US$584 million

Zimbabwe’s manufacturing capacity utilization jumped to 61.2%, driving export earnings to US$584 million, Industry Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu told the Zimbabwe Industrialisation Conference Expo. Ndlovu credited strategies deployed since 2019 for the industrial uptick, though the figures mask persistent structural vulnerabilities including erratic power supply and foreign currency shortages. The data provides a political win for the administration but leaves unresolved the gap between capacity gains and formal employment growth.
