Economy Pension Increase

NSSA Lifts Baseline Pension to US$90 in Social Protection Push

The National Social Security Authority (NSSA) will raise mandatory pension payouts by nearly 30% from October, lifting the baseline monthly benefit from US$70 to US$90. The adjustment follows actuarial pressure to maintain the real value of benefits against persistent inflation. According to the authority, the increase is designed to prevent further erosion of pensioner purchasing power within the dual-currency economy. The move targets the most vulnerable demographic, namely retirees who have seen savings evaporate across successive currency reforms. NSSA now faces the challenge of sustaining higher liabilities without increasing employer contributions or government bailouts.
