Old Mutual Migrates to Victoria Falls Stock Exchange After Suspension
Old Mutual Zimbabwe will migrate its secondary listing to the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) to address a six-year trading freeze. The financial services giant initiated this shift following the suspension of its trading on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange, where the government halted its trading in June 2020. The Financial Gazette reported that the migration remains subject to final regulatory approvals, though corporate leaders remain optimistic. Market analysts note that the move highlights investor focus regarding government interventions in local currency equity markets. By migrating to the US dollar-denominated VFEX, Old Mutual is seeking to protect its shareholders from currency risks and regulatory freezes of the main domestic exchange.
