Ferry Capsizes
An overloaded DDF ferry capsized on Lake Kariba, killing at least 15 and leaving dozens missing, according to the Civil Protection Unit. Rescue teams saved 77, but survivors and locals told iHarare and NewZimbabwe.com that authorities allowed the dilapidated vessel to sail in treacherous conditions. The tragedy exposes Zimbabwe's systemic failure in enforcing basic safety regulations for public transport.
