Police Arrest Suspect in Bulawayo WhatsApp Accommodation Scam

Police in Bulawayo arrested Gift Elvis Ndlovu, also known as Solo, for allegedly defrauding home seekers through a fraudulent WhatsApp accommodation channel. The suspect posed as an agent and operated a channel called 'Accommodation in Bulawayo' to solicit deposits from desperate renters. Authorities are now appealing for additional victims to come forward to strengthen the case. According to the Southern Eye, the scam exploited a severe housing shortage that pushes urban residents into informal, unverified rental markets. The case exposes the vulnerability of digital platforms as unregulated intermediaries in Zimbabwe's property sector.
