World Bank warns Zimbabwe may miss 2030 target
The Financial Gazette reported that the World Bank, in its Zimbabwe Growth and Jobs Report released in Harare, warned that Zimbabwe must implement urgent structural reforms and achieve annual economic growth of at least seven percent to attain upper-middle-income status by 2030. The Washington DC-based institution noted that current macroeconomic stability is insufficient, requiring deep changes to fiscal policy and governance. Without sustained reform, the 2030 ambition remains a political promise rather than an economic trajectory, according to the report. The World Bank's assessment provides an authoritative benchmark for future economic policy and investor confidence, underscoring the need for decisive action to avoid missing the target. The report further stressed that without these reforms, Zimbabwe risks falling further behind its regional peers, potentially undermining long-term stability.
