Zanu PF Provincial Chiefs Lobby to Block Mnangagwa Succession Until 2030

ZANU PF’s provincial structures escalated a campaign to keep President Emmerson Mnangagwa as party and state leader beyond 2030. Provincial leaders are lobbying the former liberation movement, citing Constitutional Amendment Act provisions as their legal cover. Midlands Province leadership, backed by Minister Ncube and traditional chiefs, went further by calling for Mnangagwa to rule for life, according to local reports. The push creates a structural standoff against succession factions and exposes the party’s internal power contestation.
