ZIMRA Beats Half-Year Revenue Target by 16%
The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority collected US$4.71 billion in net revenue during the first half of 2026, exceeding its target by 16.14 percent, NewZimbabwe.com reported. Collections rose 46.73 percent compared with the same period in 2025, while local-currency revenue reached ZWG125.06 billion. The authority credited four leading revenue streams and tighter compliance enforcement for the surplus, but economists cautioned that currency volatility and inflation may distort real gains. Corporate remittances and enforcement actions pushed collections higher, though consumer demand remains uneven. The treasury now has to sustain that pace into the second half, with exchange-rate instability and weakening purchasing power posing immediate systemic hurdles. The surge therefore raises expectations that can quickly reverse if currency pressures intensify.
