Nurses Issue Ultimatum, Defend Action

The Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA) issued a formal notice for a nationwide strike commencing April 15, 2026. Nurses cite "poverty-level" salaries and deteriorating working conditions as reasons for the three-day industrial action. The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) urged nurses to proceed with their demands for salary increments. ZINA also strongly denied that the ongoing protests at public hospitals are politically motivated, stating that their grievances are purely professional. The strike follows a 14 April deadline given to the government to address their concerns.
