Brickstone Directors Acquitted in Land Scandal

The High Court acquitted Brickstone Builders and Contractors directors Lilian Chitanga and Spencer Mabeka of fraud charges linked to the sale of residential stands on City of Harare land. Justice Benjamin Chikowero discharged the pair at the close of the state's case, ruling that prosecutors failed to produce evidence proving the essential elements of the offence. The case involved US$1.5 million and highlighted issues of land administration. The acquittal ends a lengthy legal battle for the directors.
