Transport and Fuel Costs Push Family Basket to US$616

The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) reports the family basket increased to US$616.43 in March, driven by higher transport and fuel costs. Moderate fuel price increases emerged in early March before rising sharply during the weeks ending 20 March and 27 March 2026. The rising costs are squeezing household budgets and increasing the cost of living for ordinary Zimbabweans. The CCZ data highlights the ongoing economic pressures facing families. The increase in the family basket underscores the challenges of inflation and currency instability.
