CCC MP Matsunga Supports CAB3 Bill
Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Budiriro North legislator Susan Matsunga backed the Constitution Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3) as debate neared its end in the National Assembly. Matsunga told Speaker Jacob Mudenda she supported extending the presidential term by two years to 2030 and having Parliament elect the President. Her support marks a rare cross-party endorsement of the controversial bill. Opposition MPs have largely rejected CAB3, arguing it undermines democratic principles and concentrates power. Matsunga's backing provides the ruling party with a crucial vote as the bill heads toward a final reading. The debate has exposed deep divisions within the CCC over the amendment. The core vulnerability is the fragmentation within the opposition, weakening its ability to present a united front against the bill.
