Air Zimbabwe Resumes London Flights

Air Zimbabwe will resume direct flights between Harare and London on July 1, 2026, ending a 14-year absence from the United Kingdom market. The Mutapa Investment Fund (MIF) brokered the deal as part of its broad strategy to resuscitate the national airline. MIF Chief Executive Officer John Mangudya earlier indicated that the fund would provide the necessary capital and operational support. The airline last flew to London in 2012 before financial troubles grounded the route. The resumption comes after years of restructuring and fleet renewal efforts. Air Zimbabwe has struggled with debt and operational challenges, but the MIF intervention aims to restore its international connectivity. The core vulnerability is the airline's history of financial instability, which could undermine the sustainability of the resumed route.
