Kenya Denies Airport Contract With Chivayo Linked Firm

The Kenyan government officially denied reports that a consortium involving businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s company, IMC Construction, secured a US$1.2 billion contract to expand Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Media reports previously suggested the firm was part of a group selected for the US$2.9 billion project. Kenyan authorities stated that no such agreement exists with the entity linked to the Zimbabwean businessman. Chivayo frequently visited the Kenyan presidential residence, fueling speculation regarding his business activities in the region. The denial clarifies the status of the airport expansion project amid public scrutiny.
