Chinese mining executive arrested over lithium fraud

Police arrested Li Shigang, the former chief finance officer of a lithium mining company, for allegedly stealing 3.65 million dollars from the firm. The executive appeared before Harare Magistrate Jesse Kufa to face charges involving forged financial documents and the unauthorized disposal of company vehicles. The arrest occurred amid heightened scrutiny of foreign investments in Zimbabwe's critical mineral sector. Industry representatives warned that high-profile financial crimes could damage investor confidence in the local mining industry. The mining company faces immediate operational hurdles as auditors attempt to trace the misappropriated funds.
