Chinhoyi crash death toll rises to seven

The death toll from the Chinhoyi road crash rose to seven after another victim died in hospital, with police confirming the officer driving an impounded vehicle was among those killed. The fatal head-on collision occurred on July 16, 2026, at the 109-kilometer peg along the Harare-Chirundu road near the Mashonaland West Provincial Heroes Acre. The Zimbabwe Republic Police officer was driving a vehicle he had impounded from an alleged traffic offender when the crash happened. Six people died at the scene, and the seventh victim succumbed to injuries while receiving medical treatment.
