Zanu PF province demands Mnangagwa remain until 2037

Zanu PF's Harare Province demanded that President Emmerson Mnangagwa stay in office until 2037. The demand extends his tenure by seven years beyond the party's 2030 limit. The demand emerged days after Mnangagwa signed the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Act, which delays the 2028 elections and gives the executive greater amendment powers. Harare provincial chairman Godwills Masimirembwa presented the province's resolution at a gathering in Harare to mark the amendment's enactment. The demand contradicts earlier party statements that the 2030 extension was final. The province's demand signals sharp factional realignment within ZANU PF over presidential succession and internal power structures.
