Zimbabwe receives duty-free China access for 8,949 products

Zimbabwe secured duty-free access to China for 8,949 tariff lines under a Unilateral Zero-Tariff Preferential Market Access arrangement that took effect on May 1, 2026, and runs until April 30, 2028. The initiative, unveiled by China during the 2024 Forum on China–Africa Cooperation, eliminates import duties on qualifying goods. Information Minister Soda Zhemu announced the details at a post-Cabinet media briefing on Tuesday, linking the access to China's commitment to expand trade with Africa. He said Zimbabwean exporters can now ship qualifying products into China without tariffs, reducing cost barriers. The duty-free access removes import duties on Zimbabwean goods entering China, lowering cost barriers for exporters.
