Zimbabwe joins BRICS New Development Bank

Zimbabwe gained membership in the BRICS New Development Bank, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube announced at the Zimbabwe Industrialization Conference and Expo in Harare. The Shanghai-based institution admitted Zimbabwe on Wednesday, unlocking access to credit and funding for development projects. Ncube described the membership as a major step toward accessing new sources of financing outside traditional Western institutions. The NDB, established by BRICS nations, funds infrastructure and sustainable development projects in member countries. The admission follows Zimbabwe's sustained diplomatic engagement with BRICS member states. The membership provides Zimbabwe an alternative funding channel as the country navigates limited access to international capital markets.
