Zimbabwe expands development finance with BRICS bank
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube described Zimbabwe's accession to the BRICS New Development Bank as a major milestone in the country's economic transformation agenda. Ncube characterized the admission as a significant step in Zimbabwe's international re-engagement and efforts to diversify sources of development finance. The Shanghai-based institution provides an alternative funding channel outside traditional Western financial structures. The membership unlocks access to credit and funding for infrastructure and sustainable development projects. The NDB membership expands Zimbabwe's development finance toolkit as the country navigates limited access to international capital markets.
