Police deploy nationwide ahead of Friday protests

The Zimbabwe Republic Police deployed officers nationwide to maintain law and order ahead of a planned shutdown on 31 July. The deployment follows the enactment of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, which has intensified political tensions between the government and opposition groups. The police said the public should continue with normal daily activities and assured that peace and security would be maintained. They described the deployment as a routine measure to prevent any disruption of public order. Police have not disclosed the exact number of officers deployed. The protests are scheduled for Friday.
