Gold output to hit record 55.6 tonnes
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube announced that gold production is expected to reach a record 55.6 tonnes this year, driving growth in the mining sector. He presented the forecast during the 2026 Mid-Term Budget and Economic Review in Parliament on Thursday. Mining remains one of Zimbabwe's fastest-growing industries despite an overall economic slowdown. The record output underscores the sector's importance to the economy. The government aims to sustain growth, but global gold price fluctuations and operational challenges remain. Ncube said the sector will continue to attract investment.
