Truck association accuses Zimbabwe of economic sabotage
The African Unite Borders Bus Trucks Association (AUBBTA) accused the Zimbabwean government of economic sabotage and undermining the African Continental Free Trade Area due to traffic congestion at the Beitbridge Border Post. Truck drivers faced queues stretching about 20 kilometres earlier this week. The congestion has disrupted cross-border trade and raised concerns about the efficiency of Zimbabwe's border operations. The AUBBTA called for urgent action to address the delays. The core vulnerability: Persistent border bottlenecks undermine Zimbabwe's trade competitiveness and its commitment to regional integration under the AfCFTA.
