State of disaster fast-tracks repatriation of 11 crash victims

President Emmerson Mnangagwa declared the bus crash that killed 11 Zimbabweans in South Africa a State of Disaster, unlocking emergency funds for repatriation. The declaration under Section 27(1) of the Civil Protection Act fast-tracks the return of the victims' bodies. The crash involved a Munhenzva Transport Services bus on the N1 highway near Trompsburg. The declaration follows the earlier classification of the tragedy as a disaster on August 5. The step highlights the government's reactive approach to citizen safety abroad.
