Supreme Court limits Mpofu Chimombe appeal to legal arguments only

The Supreme Court granted convicted businessmen Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe a limited appeal on their US$7.3 million goat tender fraud conviction but blocked any challenge to their prison sentences. The court ruled the pair could argue only on questions of law, not on the High Court's factual findings. The judgment stated that grounds attacking the court's findings on fact or mixed law and fact had no merit. This leaves the pair with a narrow legal path while their incarceration continues. The ruling confines the appeal to technical legal issues, making a reversal unlikely.
