Tsingshan may triple Zimbabwe steel output
Tsingshan Holding Group is considering tripling output at its Zimbabwe steel plant, which started operations in 2024. The expansion could add pressure on South Africa's struggling steel industry, as much of the production is exported there. The move would increase Zimbabwe's industrial output but also raise competition concerns in the region. South African steel producers already face cheap imports and weak demand. The expansion threatens to deepen South Africa's steel industry crisis through increased competition.
