Sandawana Mine will relocate 104 families to build a US$300 million lithium processing plant. New homes for the families are expected to be completed by the end of September 2026.
Traditional leaders approved and supported the relocation, having inspected seven model houses. The programme has received local approval.
The plant will boost lithium production and create jobs.
