Zimbabwe Mozambique expand fuel pipeline capacity

Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Daniel Chapo announced a major expansion of the Beira-Harare fuel corridor on September 3, 2026, increasing capacity by 67% and strengthening energy security in Zimbabwe and across the region. The CPMZ pipeline’s annual transport capacity is expected to rise from three million to five million cubic metres by the end of the year. The deal builds on existing energy cooperation between Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The pipeline has been a critical fuel supply route for landlocked Zimbabwe, and the expansion will benefit the entire Southern African region. The project requires completion of infrastructure upgrades to meet the new capacity. The expansion is expected to reduce fuel import costs and improve supply reliability.
