Police name 28 Chivhu crash victims

Police released the names of 28 victims killed in the August 28 Chivhu highway crash on September 2, 2026, confirming 14 children among the dead. The victims were members of a church group returning from a gathering. Three victims remain unidentified after being burnt beyond recognition. Police are appealing for help to identify the remaining victims. Some families lost four or five relatives in the tragedy. The government declared a state of disaster to facilitate relief efforts.
