EU envoy dies suddenly in Harare

European Union Ambassador to Zimbabwe Katrin Hagemann died suddenly at her Harare residence on September 3, 2026. She was 53 and had taken up her posting only months earlier. Hagemann fell ill after breakfast and staff found her unresponsive. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of death. The EU delegation has not released an official statement. Investigations are ongoing.
