Zimbabwe banned antimony and tungsten exports with immediate effect on Wednesday, directing the state-owned Minerals Marketing Corporation to suspend all shipments of ores and concentrates to foreign buyers. Secretary for Mines Thomas Wushe communicated the order in an official letter, signaling the government's intensified push for domestic mineral processing and beneficiation. The new restrictions force mining companies to refine antimony and tungsten inside Zimbabwe rather than selling raw output abroad. Producers in the sector must now adapt their operations to comply with the new restrictions. The policy applies to all antimony and tungsten exports, including concentrates and ores, and marks an escalation in Zimbabwe's resource nationalism strategy aimed at capturing more value from its mineral resources.
