Mpilo activates cancer machines by October

Health Minister Douglas Mombeshora announced that Mpilo Central Hospital's new cancer machines will become fully operational by the end of October. Mpilo recently acquired and installed the state-of-the-art equipment at its Bulawayo facility as part of a broader health infrastructure upgrade. The operational launch will expand access to radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and other cancer treatment options for patients in the region. The government procured the machines through a dedicated fund to address critical gaps in cancer care and reduce the need for overseas treatment. Patients in Bulawayo and surrounding areas will now have access to advanced cancer care locally, ending referrals abroad and replacing the hospital's previous lack of such equipment.
