Authorities investigate EU ambassador's death in Harare

European Union Ambassador to Zimbabwe Katrin Hagemann died suddenly at her Harare residence on September 3 after falling ill following breakfast. She was 53 and had been in her post for only a few months, having taken up the role earlier this year. Authorities have not yet announced the cause of death, and the EU delegation has not released an official statement days after the incident. Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death, and the EU mission is cooperating fully with the probe conducted by Zimbabwean authorities. Hagemann had taken up the ambassadorial role earlier this year, succeeding the previous ambassador. The EU mission in Harare is cooperating with the investigation, and staff are awaiting further details from the ongoing probe.
