ZIMRA grants duty relief for returnees from SA

Zimbabweans returning from South Africa amid anti-migrant protests can now bring household goods, business equipment, and certain vehicles duty-free under a temporary relief measure. The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority announced the flexibility at Beitbridge border post, easing restrictions for those fleeing the unrest. The relief applies to returning residents who can prove residence in South Africa and are moving personal property back. ZIMRA's Private Imports Manager outlined the categories of goods exempted from import duties. The measure lasts for the duration of the anti-migrant protests, allowing Zimbabweans to relocate personal and business assets without incurring hefty import taxes at the border.
